The state campaign began with charges of rank dishonesty and incompetence in office against the republican nominee for gov- ernor, the Hon. Robert C. Dunn. Little by little democrats and dis- gruntled republicans have aban- doned these charges, absolutely and repeatedly disproved by the of the state’s most honoved citi- zens. To such little measure have they shrunk that John Lind, the idol of Mintesota democracy and the man upon whom they de- pended to make Dunn’s defeat certain, can find no flaw in the great state auditor’s record ex- cept that he was ‘‘careless” and thereby let the Duluth & Iron Range railway get temporary possession of 43,000 acres of state school lands. Even at this Mr. Lind admits that Mr. Dunn recovered the land the moment he discovered that it had been taken. State Auditor Iversonm, however, testifies that Mr. Dunn had no means of knowing that the railroad had secured the land; that the land was secured by the railroad probably through a cleri- cal error in copying Judge Loch- ren’s decision conveying certain lands to the road. To this little measure have all the attacks upon Mr. Dunn’s rec- ord as state auditor shrunken! When democracy’s foremost champion admits upon the public platform that he has nothing up- on which to base a critism of Mr. Dunn’s record, what wonder that the pendulum of public sentiment is swinging so strongly in favor of an emphatic majority for the head of the republican state ticket. e P 2 P 20 B 38 2B B 3B 3B 2B B B B 3 B B B B B B THE"FRAULTLESS" «.5TUMP PULLER...} Most Simple and Durable Stump Puller on the Market. e World’s Fair Prize. All of the republican candi- dates nominated at the primaries have filed while in six cases in- dependent candidates seek to de- feat the republican: nominees. The republican ticket, state and county, is a strong, conservative ticket, the men nominated in each instance being men of recognized worth. In many cases they have been repeatedly tried and found worthy. The ticket deserves the report of every republican in Bel- trami county and every man who | believes in the principles of the great republican party should vote the ticket from top to bot- tom. The biggest republican vote ever polled in Beltrami county |y, will be cast next month. It day should be cast solidly for the re- publican nominees. MiINNESOTA has made a remar- able showing at the world’s fair at St. Louis. The state first maintained its supremacy as a dauy state by beating all compet- itors in the monthly butter scor- ing contests, it carried off the grand prize for the best elemen- tary educational exhibit, won the gold medal for flour and now its agricuitural exhibit two grand prises, gold medals, eighteen silver medals. The Pio- neer Press hits it off jnst about right when it says that if this keeps up Minnesota will not only be known as the bread and butter eleven * | state, but also every other kind of a state.
