County Attorney Loud is to be warmly commended for the yig- orous stand which he took at the school election Saturday night in refusing to allow lumbeajacks and others well known dot to be legal voters to vote and for his declaration that should such per- sons persist in* voting he would promptly cause their arrest and prosecution. We have for so long been accustomed to the spectacle of anybody’s voting in Bemidji that we have almost forgotten that some people have a right to vote and some have not. It is time that the people of Bemidji managed their own affairs with- out the assistance of lumber- jacks. Despite the big yote at the school election there were fewer illegal votes than for many a day in this city and itis due to Mr. Loud’s resolution that this is so. IN ADDITION to the republican platform adopted by the state convention Bob Dunn has a plat- pform of his own. He has made it plank by plank during the past eight years it’s a mighty fine platform. Mr. Dunn new adds another plank in his declaration for the extension of the primary election law. This year’s experience with conven- and tions shows that such an exten’ sion is imperative and this one plank alone is almost good enough to put Mr. Dunn in the governor’s chair. SENATOR Davis, democratic candidate for vice |president, is too old to take the stump. How then could he endure the labors of the presidency should fate lay them upon him? I AMUSEMENTS i This city will soon be visited by the oldest amusement enter- prize in existence; Richards & Pringle’s, Famous Georgia Min- strels, an organization that stands for that which is best in colored minstrelesy. A quarter of a century is a long time for any enterprize, especially in the amusement field to continue un- | der one management, but such is | 5 the record of the ‘‘Georgias.” Each season the management of | this company have always or- ganized as strong a company of coloredartistsas were obtainable, never attempting totrade on their excellent reputation, and this is the secret of their success, the thing that has put the “Georgias’’ in the front rank. Synonimous with the name of Richards & Pringle is that of Clarence Rowell, he of the ready wit and the cavernous mouth, the highest salaried colored comedian in the minstrel field.
