Frank McGraw, who has been in the employ of the Crookston Lumber company and has been buying logs north of Solway, left this morning for Red Lake to 1ook after some business for the company. Mr. and Mrs. James Harris, of the Hotel Richards at Tenstrike, came down this morning with their little daughter, who has been under the doctor’s care for some time and will be taken to St. Anthony’s hospital for treat- ment. Donations of books are being made to the Library Association with commendable liberality. The library room will be ar- ranged for in a short time. Henry Buenther has donated a handsomely mounted great horned ow] for the library 100ms. Peter McHugh, one of the pro- moters of the townsite of Gem- mell, James Young and John Bartlett, of Big Fork, are in the city today returning from a trip to Cass Lake, where they had been transacting business at the land office. Mr. Johnson left this afternoon to at- tend the funeral. Senator McCarthy of Grand Rapids was in the city yesterday. Senator McCarthy is retained as the attorney for James Harris, a Grand Rapids man, who is being sued by Mrs. J. M. Wonzor to recover a sum of money. The case comes on for hearing some time next month. The Thursday Musicale club, who have for some time been negotiating for the appearance of the Hennepin avenue M. E. church quartette of Minneapolis, have been given the date of March 23, and will no doubt suc- ceed in securing the quartette tor an engagement. The Flude’s illustrated lecture under the auspices of the Ep- worth League society at the M. E. church last night was quite liber- ally patronized and was a very enjoyable effort.
