Hill's influence in the Senate is very much greater than is generally believed, though it may be not strong enough for a contention with the administration. Needs of the New York Office Discussed Today. ‘There bas been some complaint relative to the delay in handling the mail at the New York post office. Today Mr. Maise, as the representa- tive of Postmaster Van Cott, had a lengthy conference with Postmaster General Wanamaker. He is the superintendent of delivery in the York office and is therefore in a position to ling the mails. “Mr. J. Lowrie Bell, the second assistant, and Capt. White, the superintendent of the railway mail service, attended the con- ference.
