A PROSECUTING OFFICER WHO HAS MADE HIMSELF POPULAR BY BEING Dee JUST AND FAIR., James L_ Pugh was bornin Eufaula Barbour County, Alabama, January 17, 1862, thirty-six years o. He studied law at the University of Vir- ginia and was graduated from the Georgetown University, tnis city, and was admitted to the bar 1m 1885 Was appointed prosecuting attorney at the Police Court, November 1891. This young man is, no doubt, the most popular prosecuting attorney that has ever been at the Court. His fair dealings with prisoners and the justice he displays have won jor hi ahost of friends. Mr. Pugh is a southern man by birth, and his form er contact with the people, the colored eople in the south, has fully educated im in their manners and ways. If it were left with the colored people in this city, instead of pene prosecuting officer, he would be elevated judgeship. The members of the bar, toa man, have the highest respect and admiration for him. Whatever his politics may be, he never allows it to entera case that he is to prosecute.
