SIDE TALK TO GIRLS. <> THE LATEST FASHIONS. _For casino gowns, lace and_grena- dine over colored taffeta or satin mer- veillenx are the latest. For morning frocks the ever pretty duck and linen suits, also batistes, lawns, nainsook and dimities, are chosen. For carriage wear organdies are still the prettiest, and they come in exquis- ite shades and patterns. Crepons still come in new effects the latest seen being silk striy raised. ‘these goods are not at all practical, as the prettier they are the easier they wear out, although one is enticed to buy them through their prettiness. The fashion for frocks with short capes of same material gets more and more pronounced every y especially for the cool evenings at the seaside re- sorts. A great many of the summer and new fall dresses will be cut in one piece, shirred at the waist line and over the hips, about fifteen or twenty inches deep, which arrangement is repeated on top and around the shoulders. For this purpose the light weight wool goods and crepons are used. What gives those frocks their ele- gance is that they are all ornamented with lingerie co s, collarettes, or fronts, and with revers of the same. A toilette of Louis XVI style, very much admired is of ffetas of a pale green ground with rose colored seripes, A great many of the prettiest sum- mer frocks are made over India silk, instead of taffetas, as itis both cooler and cheaper, and does not take away from the light effect which these dress- es ought to have. The Louis XVI hats are mostly trimmed with striped ribbon, having Dre: den flowers and high tips of black feathers. Some small hats have the shape of turbans z are draped with lace wound around a guirlande of flowers, with stiff laps of ribbon. For the country the favorite seems to be the Charlotte, also the big sun hat of fine straw, a es HOW’S THIS!
