President Harrison is President, notwithstanding the removal of Republicans. Life is all chance, so far as hold- ing of a public office under this ad- ministration, President Harrison does not want a renomination if he bas to appoint Republicans to office. No Republican need apply under a Democratic administration. Republicans may carry elections, bat, Democrats get the benetit of the offices. THE BEE WOULD LIKE TO KNOW. J., Aug. 27,91 Dear Clara : I left the city of magnificent dis- tances on last Saturday afternoon tor Atlantic City. I met several on the train whom I «new and who seem to enjoy the trip. On my arrival at Atlantic City I met Dr. Francis, W. A. Stewart, and sever- weather for several days has been very pleasant and the enjoyable sea baths that I have taken daily have greatly improved me. a*y There is a great deal of prejudice here against the colored people. The Clinton cottage is the only house that can afford sea baths to the boarders. There are pavilions here upon which the colored are not allowed to walk. Tho color preja- dice is growing stronger every day. I am pleased to know that cur people are doing well -here. A great namber of them have their own cuttages, in fact they own them. The only inconvenience is that they have no cottages on the sea shore. The beach is entirely taken up by the white people. The hotels aloug the beach are owned and controlled by the white people. All that the colored people can do is, to walk along the plank walk and look at the white people in bathing. The only way I suppose for the colored people to coutrol a part of the sea is to dig trench and fill their back yards with salt water. So far as I am concerned I am well satisfied. I take my sea bath every day. Ihave my own bathing suit snd as the law of Jersey does not prohibit a person from going into the sea, I of course take my daily baths. The colored people connot rent bathing suits. The Havelow House is well filled. Some of the most fashionable Philadelphians are here enjoying the gay season. The season is more lively this year than it has been for some time. ate I shall be home in time to enjoy @ trip with you down the river. You know that I always enjoy river trips, It recalls tomy wind the days of my chilhood. There are hundreds of things that I could am probibited. : Remember yours lovingly, Louise.
