A WASHINGTON LADY’s sccEss, Elk Lick, Va., October 28, 90. _ The Chapel which had its origin | in the person of Miss Jennie Dean, | of Sudley Springs, Va., who work- | ed and is working so faithfully, nobly and effectually for its com- | pletien, is fairly on its way, and | religious exercises are being held | in it. Saturday October 11th, the | people of this vicinity celebrated the opening of their Chapel in the form of a Sunday School union. There were four Sabbath Schools represented, namely: Catharpin, Wiliard, Cub-ran and Elk Lick. The afternoon was given to exer- cises suitable to the occasion, to which many were present. At the close of the exercises addresses were delivered by Revs. H. Harris, W=2. Smith, Mr. J. Walter White, Mrs. Bias, and Miss Jennie Dean, the originator, Miss Dean’s ad- dress was eloqueat and her ac- count of her work was interesting. A festival was given io the ev euing for the purpose of raising more money to complete the build- ing. A handsome littie sum was realized. Rev. D. G. Henderson preached here on the fourth Sunday. A large crowd was present. The ckureh tendered its thanks to its many friends who so nobly came to its assistance in she time of need aud especially emphasize its thanksful- uess towards the following sources of relief, viz :— Park St. Congregation church, Boston Mass., $14.00; St. Pauls ebureh, $3.25; Clarendon Street Bapt..S. Walker the aspirants tor the pas- torate of the church of which be was pastor, have been numerous.
