Riley, formerly of Tennessee, and who has given so much satisfaction while pastor of the Fifteenth Street Presbyterian Church, has decided to resign. The church loses a good man and one whose services will be greatly missed. The congregation of the church held a meeting on last Monday evening and the following resolution was adopted : Wuereas, our Pastor, Rev. J. R. Riley has by reason of his domestic affliction, tendered his resignation to this Congregation, Wuereas, By his strict integri- ty and his earnest christian efforts in behalf of this Church, he has endeared himself tous. Therefore, be it Resolved by the members. of the Fifteenth Street Presbyterian Church in congregation meeting assembled, That while we regret very much the circumstances that have actuated him to tender his resignation, we reluctantly unite with him in requesting the Wash- ington City Presbytery to dissolve his pastoral relations with this church, the same to take effect March 31, 1887. Resolved, That this congrega- tion earnestly and sincerely sympa- thize with our pastor in his domestic affliction, and pray God to so strengthen him that he may be enable to bear them with a calm christian resignation.
