Jon Fousy is going Field to vote. Foxer isa member of the Committee of The interest in this city is mainly con- centrated on the Mayoralty contest. View- od superficially, Mr. HAvemeyen might be expected to get the 64,000 votes given last fall to the Republican State ticket, Mr. LAWRED the 55,000 votes thrown at that election for the Tammany city candidates, and Mr. O' Barren the 30,000 votes then cast for the Apollo Hall nominees. This undoubtedly is the fund, so to ypeak, upon which each of the three can- didates at the start supposed he had a right to draw, This, it will be seen, would make the contest a ueck and neck race between Lawrence and Haveeyer, with O'Bai far in the rear, But this, unless everybody is mistaken, Js not the present condition of the contest. Lawrence is believed to have held his ewn. There is no good reason why he should not get as many votes now, at the very least, as the Tammany ticket, then wuder the ban, received last November, There may be some dosertions among Democrats; but it would seem to be im. possible that these should not be made up by the Liberal Re publicans, who will go for Lawkence to a man. The supporters of O' Buren believe that he is to guin heavily over the Apollo Hall vote of November, 1871. They may have Food grounds for this boast; but where is their gain to come from? Can they shake the solid Lawnence vote? We doubt if they can. 'f O'Brien adds to the Apollo vote of a year ago it looks as if his acces. sions must mainly come from Grant Re- publicans, This being so, O'Brien's hopes rest upon the strenuous effort he is un- doubtedly putting forth to ge* Republican votes, all of which will as to Have mrven. The tone of the Repub! that the honest Granti alarmed at the inroad which O'Brren ia making in their ranks, leading outsiders to belic that the bargain which Grant made with O'BRIEN lust spring, though since repudiated by the former, is now Seventy and the Committee of Fifty. He is also one of the inventors of HavemMEY ER: and of gold pens; end it has been demon- strated that ho is im some respects a greater man than Cuartes O’Conor; but he has not let the people know how he is going to vote. Is Jonw Povey for Havemergn? Then he is a friend of religtous proscription, Is he for Lawrence? Then why haan’t he published the fact? Is he for O'Brien? We fear so, for we notice that silence is one of the peculiarities of O'Brren's friends, and Fousy is silent, Is Jonny Forry for Grant? Then he has ceased to be a Democrat and has joined the Republicans. Is he for Dr. GnerLry? Then he is once more in unison with Tam. many Hall. Is he for CHanies O'Conor! Then he is for a man who has not his knowledge or bis ability. Foury knows how to make # gold pen, and he can make one; but Mr. O'Conon can't. Finally, is Jony Fouey for Drx and Rov- Ixson? Then he has gore back upon him- self. Ishe for Kennan and Depew? Then he is going to vote for the men who ought to be elected; and that is what Joun Forry loves to do. The majority of geod men will vote for Kernan and Derew. Now, Jomn Fouey is a good man, and he always wants to be in the majority. Therefore we conclude that he will vote for Kernan and Derew; and we earnestly advise all his friends and all the rest of mankind to Go the same.
