= i WE SUN, MONDAY, JUNE 24 aa BILL KEMBLE’S PLATFORM. —— ADDITION, DIVISION, AND SILENCE ON LONG ISLAND, - Creating & Water Famine to Give the Ring Contractors a Large Job-—The Chief En- gincer Instructed to Dry -Mayorand Common Council Decetved, In 1870 the Brooklyn Water Board se red the passage of a law empowering them to propare and eubmit to the Common Council a plan for furnishing an increased supply of water. {n June of that year the Chief Engineer submit ted plans to the board which provided for a qe reservolr in Hempstead, at an estimated «cof $1,400,000. ‘These plans were submitted by the Howrd to the Common Council, were favorably reported by the Water and Drainage Committee, and resolutions to carry the same into fect were at once adopted by a vote of 17 5. Mayor Kalbfleisch, however, yetoed the fee lutions, and requested the Common Councl jo suspend all action until the subject could be grained.
