Judge Clute immediately granted a writ of habeas corpwe, and Messrs. BixanamTon, Aug. 11.—The number; on both fides gathered along the Albany and Susquehanna Railroad is from twelve to fourteen hundred men, Last night a large number of these men came in col liston and fouzht two battles with pistols, bludgeons, &c. Kight or ten received shot wounds or bruises, ‘To-day the forces are ranged along the rond between the Tunnel Station and Harpersville, a distance of a few miles; but the presence of tl troops of the Forty-fourth Regiment will probably prevent a re- nowal of hostilities, THR YIGUTING ON TURSDAY NIGHT. ‘The Erie Company had at four or Ove o'clock in the afternoon trom seven to eight hundred mea at the tunuyl, and holding the station near it. The force of the Albany party at tho upper end of the tunnel numbered, between six and seven o'clock, thirty-Ave men, at which time the main force of three hundred and fifty or four hundred men ar. rived, At about that time the Erie manager deter mined to take the disputed ground. A train of two cars was filled with men, numbering perhaps two hundred and Afiy, and sent into the tunnel, No obstruction was met until the tunnel was passed, THR TRAINS IM COLLISION, At the upper end a rail was found to have been taken up, and was replaced, Thon on turning a curve train with Ramsey men on board was vo} ed approaching. Both engines were considerably injured.
