The War in Karopr. Ths morning webave another jnstaliment of ‘toportant news from the seat of war in Europe. Avetria has gained another victory, thie time de- footing the Prussian army which hed invaded Ro- hemis, and driving it baek in confusion. It the battle was general between the two armiesos from the meagre reports it seems to have been the Prussians bave suffered » severeloss, The force whieh bad advanced into Botemis was the fiower of their army, and with it they expected to “efeat the Austrian army of the North, under the tomediate command of Field-Marshal Bavevex. Peing defeated in thie engagement, the Pru ans il) lose, in the first place, the prestige of euccens which they had acquired by their rapidconquent«f | Serony and Hanover, and by the celerity of ther movernenta in the invamon of Austrian ter- ritory. Tu the second place, they will lose the ad- vantege of alliance with those minor German Auatoe which were favorable to Anstria upon prin- ciple but inclined to ally thernse!ves with Prussis ane matter of expediency. It will be remembered that the States of the Confederation voted to mus- tern Austria in the quarre), ond that the said vote wa the cause of their invamon by Prussia, Ifthe Austrians had been able to come to their support in time, all of the Southern and perhaps the Mid- le German Btates would have taken the field egainst Prussia, The rapidity of the latter's movements, however, gave them no chance for defeuce, and they would hare bean obliged to aid Prussia if that powrr had fucceeded tn keeping the point of war in Austrian territory. The late victory, however, if it be as important as is represented, wi!! oblige the Prus- mans to fall back, out of Pohemis. and thus en.ble the Austrians to joiu bands with their German sllies, The whole aspect of the war has thus sud- denly changed. Within » Week's tires Austria has seat both of ber invaders ** whirling back,” as Generel Burman would say, and is no longer forced to occupy ® de'ens.ve position. We may now look for en offensive movement by Austris into the Prussian state cf Silesia. King Down the Curtain! No specified time has yet been agreed upon for the ad ournment of Congress. There is tus little regular business to do asde from the pending Tariff bill, and yet the majority party seem to Le ubwiiling to fix a date for the conclusion of the ees ion. The number of bil» aud resolutions re- ported during the pres ntsesmon is far in excess of any previous session—seven huadred and sixiy- nine bills and one hundred and eight-mx joint re- solutions, Woen it is remembercd that a consi. dersbie porti n of thess Lilla bad reference to * re- congtruction," itis nes dificult to unders‘and why Congress h s made such «# complete muddle of ‘ry towmber of that interesting su’ ject. The whole resul* of the ection of Congress on the reconstruction ques- tion may be summed up by saying that i, hes @'ven to the freeimen @ shadow called C.vil Rights, while, on the other hand, it bas led to the formation of two sectional po'itical parties—tbe Redical Republicans and tne * National Uaion- tots,” otLerwi diate adjournment.
