Bince the explosion at the same place several months ‘aso, by which ten persons were killed, this work has been carried on in sheje widely separated, so that an explosion in one cannot communicate to the o:hers en the grounds. Very much of this kind of war material has recently been brought to the Arsenal. It is stated that Ex-Gov. Ha'l, of Vermont, will be appointed to fill the vacancy in the Renate occasioned by the death of Senator Foot. The United Beates and Brazil Mail Steamship Company has a memorial before the House Commit- tee on the Post Office and Post Roads, asking for an extension of the route from Rio Janeiro to Montevi- deo and Buenos Ayres.
