{ ET HAM Skcal GOSSIP) THE NEW PLAYS “Frank Fay’s Fables” Fairly Entertaining By CHARLES DARNTON i NLESS you ure shamelessly rich, | J it may mean something to you to be able to go to a musical Yeyue without mortgaging the family phonograph or ‘‘soaking’’ the parlor Boldfish. After all, the price makes @ great difference, and it should be borne in mind when considering “Prank Fay's Fables" at the Park Theidtre. Almost everything but the music the concert radiators, and the canned fomatocs are by Mr. Pay. Leaving little to the printed programme, he tells you what to expect, and intro- duces the leading entertainers, call- ing them out in their dressing gowns by way, perhaps, of making every thing und everybody as ‘intimate’ as tho circumstances will permit. 1 thus bringing art close to the people he neither affects the heartiness of Raymond Hitchcock nor the foolish- Mess of Ed Wynn, but rather the eusy detachment of the cabaret lounger | whose word or look may open locked | Goors and, perchance, seated bottles. | Again, he stands modestly at one Side of the stage gazing pensively yet | fondly at his fabulous coworkers, There is no lack of indust The | fiembers of the large company pitch | fn for all they are worth, Occasion- | glly the spirit moves them to come| Over the foptiights, us when they) form # wedding party and march up @me aisie and down another in all their glory. Broadway hears that both A. L. Erlanger and Lee Shubert are interested in this plan and that each has promised jt finun- €ial backing. If the idea goes through ft will be a sort of a “wheel” affair, éuch us the Columbia Burlesque in- fterests use. Franchises will be issued to owners of theatres in the circuit @nd also to owners of attractions in- fended for these houses. It's a move fm the right direction. There's com- {ng a time when the man who paid a broker $8.80 for a seat to “The Music Box Revue" in 1922 will be pointed out as an extraordinary person. Broadway never had a show worth $8.80 4 seat and it never will have ne while you are alive, darling reader. ‘Whe theatrical producers should re- member {t was Germany who lost the war, not the American theatregoing Public.
