Here are a few selections from Proposed legislation which are of especial interest to New Yorkers: New York State will have a lobbyist at the National Capital ff the plans of the Joint Commit- tee on Taxation and Retrench- ment go through. His chief duty at present will be to work for an amendment to the Federal laws to give States the right to td& National banks. This would mean approximately $8,000,000 increased income to New York. January 31 has been made the tentative date for a public hear- ing at the Capitol on the report of the port authority, under the auspices of the two financial committees of the Legisiature, ‘This will be the most important Jegislation affecting New York City during the regular session. Assemblyman Campbell of Behenectady has introduced a bill amending the election laws s0 as to make it possible for a woman to register without disclosing her real age beyond twenty-one years, Assemblyman Jobn J, Wacker- man of Brooklyn has introduced ae bill directing the Brooklyn Rapid Transit Company to re- Avenue line and authorizing the Transit Commission to waive the issuance of transfers. This would clear the way from Manhattan through Brooklyn at the old five- cent fare. Assemblyman Louis Cuvillier of New York has introduced a bill making the price of admis- sion to horse rages $1.60 and pro- hibiting the issuing of passes to public oMcials or any free ad- mission to other persons, except “with the approval of the Rac- ing Commission."* Assemblyman W.
