Copyright, 1922, (New York Evening World) by Press Publishing Co. ASHIONS for young women are changing less frequently than they did formerly, Still, no girl lives who does not crave eternal di- version. She can satisfy the craving of her nature by altering the small points about her costume—by modi- fying the appearance of the little things. These are always new and fresh. They shape themselves to her varying mgod. And, Oh, they are so much less expensive than a whole new gown would be—a necessarily impor- tant consideration in the life of every girl. Some one who had spent a long lifetime studying the things that made women look smart, said: “Let her wear the simplest, plainest sort of a suit or frock. Let it be of neu- tral color. Let it be inconspicuous as to cut and form. Let it even be eco- nomical, Then let her go the limit with hat, with shoes, with jewelry and laceS’—anything to pep up the costume in a different way from day to day. On this principle are smartly dressed women made.” There is a standard for you. Fol- low its lead and you wil] see miracles wrought with your own appearance. For you and every other girl in the world must recognize that part of herself which demands change just as surely as winter changes into spring. If you have a dress of.one tone and a hat of the same tone and a coat to repeat the color, then you can hope for no other state in life but a mo- notonous treading of the way from duy to day. 3ut try a eed hat with a dark blue suit. Life becomes more sparkling at once, Try a violet face veil with your taupe coat. Try a soft gray fox fur and a gray hat with your black cape, Try a pair of light tan woollen stockings with your brown suit, All of these tricks and many others work wonders with a costume which must last out the season. Don't permit it to become dull to your own senses, Then it will never look dull to others, The Importance of Veils. She had brushed and brushed her hat. But the raindrops were still there—very prominent, It was a good hat, too. It had cost a lot of money. Some one suggested a veil, but she had never pictured just that hat surrounded by the meshes ofa veil. Well, perhaps the right sort of a veil would do. She would visit a shop and see, And the result was something even prettier, softer and much more be- eoming than the hat had been origin- ally. You see, there is something so truly feminine at Any girl, once she feels ; her face, feels 1 before she wore prettier tha ) the misty hing And the long, wfappy sort of veils which e good this winter are just the things to me you proudest of your girlish- ness In the Picture, surrounding the turman, there is on of the It is « I with a pat- tern not definite enourh to interfere with t} of your eves or the } 1 l It ha t m7 ! nflowe nd 1 Mor ! that me Ce \ vided in o fl ] und at refu l t 1 ind dim and I t t be vivid if the to 1 mit Then let tt lor ww you Jike Twin your throat and shoulders wt her the hat is old Earrings for Ears and for Hats. e just now than most girl realize And they r t be long dangling ear- rings. FEQERS Earrings for hats, as well as for ears, are one of the season’s smartest accessories, The yeil that wraps around a small and colorful toque is one of the most becoming as- sets of a street costume, ment than the dangles that dropped from the ears Then notice the picture of the transparent hat on this page, It, too, has its earrings, And that is another story, Earring ornaments have spread to hats in the most remarkable way. I saw a hat of plain blac satin which had for its only trimming dangles of crystal hanging from either side. (Good and long these pendants were, and they bobbed about most attractively along with the motion of the head. We have had hat pins with dangles and we still have them, They are as smart as can be. But now the ear- rings are being attached quite sole emnly to the hat Itself and there they frankly pose as the trimming de luxe They are green, they are coral col- ored, they are black as jet, they are sometimes made of many strands of strung seed pearls. But their place on the hat is an undisputed matter— something that has been sinctioned by smart women and has become the Imitation Furs.
