Three times a day, generally when the clock tells us to, we eat. It is as mechanical almost as an automatic stoker for a factory boiler. There is a difference. If a factory engineer paid as little attention to the coal he feeds to his boilers as we do to the food we eat, it wouldn’t be long before the fires would be clogged, the whole steam system would be out of commission, and the factory would be closed for repairs. Nothing that man has ever de vised can stand the abuse most of our bodies receive. With an ig- norance and a blind confidence that fears nothing because it knows little, we eat everything we like in quantities that we can. Seldom do most of us know the keen joy of satisfying hunger, because we never allow ourselves to grow hungry. Day after day, year after year, we fill our bodies with the wrong food or too much food; never once do we stop for a day or miss a meal to allow our overworked systems a brief rest. Sometimes nature finally is un- able to stand it, and we become sick or half-sick. Then from sheer necessity we go back to a simpler diet of which fresh milk is the basis. How much better it would be if we could get into the habit of eating less heavy food and drink- ing more milk. Even if no other result were obtained, the digestive organs would find some relief in the lessened bulk to be assimilated. If you haven’t been a milk drinker, try it fora month. Drink a quart of milk aday. Eat smaller portions of meat and other heavy food. When you open your mouth to eat, open your eyes to what you are eating too. Good health is surely worth a little thought about food. More milk means better health. DatrYMEN’s LEAGUB Co-OPBRATIVE ASSOCIATION, INC. UTICA, N. Y. Ask your retailer © The fate of nations will depend on the outcome of the Armament Conference at Washington next month. © This conference must complete the tasks which the Versailles Conference left either unfinished or untouched. © A task for which Mr. Wells is especially fitted, and which needs doing in connection with the Arma- ment Conference, is the creation of an informed public cpinion. 4, The League of Nations Committée on Disarma- ment might well have had in mind Mr. Wells and the series of articles he will write for The World and the Chicago Tribune when it said offigially at the last session in Geneva: H. G. WELLS author of “The Outline of History,” and one of the greatest modern writers, whom The World will bring to America to report the sessions of the Armament Conference. Mr. Wells's articles will appear in New York exclusively in The World. The limitation of armaments can never be imposed by the Govern- ments on the peoples, but it may be imposed by the peoples on the Governments. It is only by creating an instructed public opinion in each country that the necessary strength of world opinion may be obtained. It is of great importance that the peoples of the world be made aware of how much money and personnel {s devoted to armaments as the direct consequence of international fear and suspicion. The first of the Wells articles will appear during the week of Oct. 30- Nov. 5, which is the week preceding the assembling of the conference on Nov. 11.
