MAGK REPORT REJECTED, ZION ~— OFFICERS RESIGN Seven of 8 Officers Withdraw and 31 of 50 Commit- teemen Quit. CLEVELAND, June 7.—A vote dis- @pproving the annual report of the administration of Judge Julian W. Mack of Chicago, President of the Zionist Organization of America, was followed early to-day by the resigna- tion of seven of the eight officers of the organization and thirty-one of the fifty members of the National Executive Committee, as well as the Gecretary of that committee. This action at the twenty-fourth @nnual convention of the order came @t the conclusion of a debate on the report that had lasted ten hours, Judge Mack had upheld the posi- tion of the administration in upposi- Gon to the present organization of the Keren Hayesod, or Palestine Restora- gon Fund, and had asked for a vote @f confidence. The Keren Hayesod ‘was organized and chartered in Lon- on for the purpose of raising $100,- 90,000 for use in Palestine. ‘The administration of the American Zionist organization contends that five @rectors of the Keren Hayesod have been clothed with autocratic powers which would enable them to use the fund for purposes other than the actual restoration of Palestine, and that contributors to the fund have no administration. The pro-Weizmann forces, headed by Dr, Chaim Weizmann of London, President of the World Zionist Or- ganization, who Is at the convention as a guest, contend that “if there are an faults in the charter they can be remedied at the next international Zionist congress.” Emanuel Neumann, Acting Seere- tary of Keren Hayesod In New York, submitted a resolution reading in part: Having discussed the report of the President of the Zionist Organization of America relating to the differences that have arisen between the present administration of the Zionist ni- zation of America and the World Zionist Organization, particularly in reference to the Keren Hayesod, we, the representatives of the Zionist Organization of America, declare: “That while we appreciate the services rendered to our cause by the present officers of the administration, we regard it our duty to state that the course of action pursued by Present administration constituted a breach of the dicipline of the organi- zation, contrary to the highest inter- est of the Zionist movement, and we regretfully express our disapproval.” Morris Rothenbergh, New York, Chairman of the Executive Commit- tee of the American Jewish Congress, urged the adoption of the resolution, charging nothing had been done in behalf of the Keren Hayesod the leaders of the American Zionist Or- ganization until Dr. Chaim Weis- mann came to America. Rabbi Stephen S. Wise of New York defending the administration, silenced rumors of a split in the American or- ganization when he said that no mat- ter what happens, “we are all Zion- ists.” “There is no conflict between Amer- ‘can Jews and the Jews of Eastern Furope as to the method of upbuild- ing Palestine,” he said. THE EveninG WORLD, EON TE ERR SN TRIAS RE OER MAM LL PS OR BU eh AN MAYORS MUST SEE LAWS ARE ENFORCED “No Matter What They Think of Their Wisdom,” “Wallin Tells City Officials’ Conference. HUMIRA, June 1.—The New York State Conference of Mayors and other city officials “stands four square for law enforcement and maintenance of order and decency in our several com- munities," Mayor William J. George B. Ford told the members that the soning of cities has come to stay. “Zoning saves money,” Mr. Ford eaid, “and real estate men everywhere are enthusiastic about this municipal activity.” New York, Rochester, Yonkers, White Plains, Niagara Falls and Gloversville are completely zoned and nine other cities are preparing zoning ordinances, FRUTCHEY SILK SHOP 4 WEST 40th STREET Near FIFTH AVENUE Wednesday, June 8, 1921, is the great price- reducing silk day.
