MAY INDICT TWO | CTY OFFICALS IN HOSPITAL SCANDAL Untermyer Hears They Had Interest in Shifted Cumber- land Street Contracts. It reports which have reached the Lockwood committee are eubstan- tiated by evidence, it is understood that two city officials will be in- Bieted as an outcome of shifting con- @racts for work upon the Cumberland Street Hospital in Brooklyn by which the city has lost upward of $500,000. From information received it ap- pears that these two officials, neither of whom has been mentioned in the testimony taken before the commit- tee, either hold, or until recently held, large interests in a concern which has profited considerably through re-let- ting of contracts for construction of the hospital! at a figure as large again as the city originally planned to ex- pend. Samuel Untermyer, who is deter- mined to sift the hospital scandal to the bottom, left for Washington yes- terday on private business, but he has decided to have this case prosecuted by members of the staff of Special Deputy Attorneys General who are] assisting him in the Lockwood in- quiry, instead of by District Attorney Lewis of Kings County as had been expected. The reason for this deci- sion is that Mr. Untermyer's own ff \s familiar with the case, which | has been threshed out before the com- | mittee at its public hearings, and has obtained information which may prove exceptionally valuable in prose- cuting it and getting at persons whose | names have thus far been kept secret ‘The thirty-two members of the As- sociation of Dealers in M Building Materials who were s uled for sentence before Sup Court Justice Davis last Monday up for sentence again to-day, seems certain their cases w 1 pent charges and th fendant is al the conspiracy to boo Thirteen of these corporations.
