By Sylvester Rawling. HE Oscar Hammerstein Memo- rial Foundation concert at the Hippodrome last night drew a capacity audience. The receipts were waid to be more than $12,000, Will- jam J. Guard, formerly publicity di- rector for the Manhattan Opera Com- pany, and who since its disruption tne years ago has held @ like place with the Metropolitan Opera Com- Pany, made an apt speecn extolling the virtues of Mr. Hammerstein. At the Metropolitan Opera House on Gaturday night Michel Fokine and Vera Fokina, the Russian | dancers, appeared, assisted by Arnold Volpe and his symphony orchestra. At Aeolian Hall on Saturday afternoon F. Heyward Hunter, basso cantante, gave a reci In a brief review last Monday of the opera season just closed, 1 said that not once had Caruso and Miss Farrar sung together. One of my readers courteously points out that the statement is an error as both were in the cast of “Tosca” on the opening night. Apologies for my un- fortunate slip of memory.
