pF It may really be a good deal better } 4 | ; low | wonder if you" at the African sheep's hi wi grown With two horns, then two more; Yes, they really have four. You would never find this on a roan. Y DEAREST KIDDIE FRIENDS: Do you notice that there is something ditfer- ent and strange about our Klub Kor- ner to-day? It is because there are no poems, no stories and no drawings by my Cousins in it, excepting the con- test winner. T do not like it half so well, do you? I dia hate not to print a single con- tribution by a kiddie, but in all the stacks and stacks of things that I have there was not one to be found that was really up to your standard. And it did seem such a shame to pub- lish anyting at all when I knew right well that you could do so much better if you'd try. 50 instead I am publish- ing this letter and asking you to try. ‘Try to write the very best that is in you and send me the results, Send them all. Do not hold back some poem or story or drawing because it is not exactly as you wanted it to be. than you imagine. Often a Cousin's Jetter will have in it half a dozen different examples of writing or draw- ing, together with a letter saying that the sender thinks some certain one is far the best. More times than not the piece of work which the au- thor or artist has chosen ag the best really is not so good as some other. There is nothing ‘strange about this. Even grown-up professional writors and artists are sometimes mistaken in their judgment as to what is their best work. So it is not extraordinary that kiddies should be. Wor that reason I wish that ‘after my ambi- tious and very talented Cousins have tried and done their best they would send me ALL they have done and let me do the choosing. It is a good deal more fun doing things that way. <_ If you wish to know why the Kiddie | Klub Korner must always be up to the mark you have but'to remember | that every. day new people are read- | ing The Evening World. Suppose that the first time a kiddie or a grown-up reads the Kiddie Klub Kot- | ner they should find only fairly good contributions from my Cousins print- ; What would they think and y?. A Dutch Wedding. 667 PCHE bride's dress had to be made, and the materiala—laces, lin- ings, trimmings, guimpes and cords—to be purchased. The prepars- tions were constantly interrupted by trade solicitors who were eternally knocking at the door, this one to usk to supply the banquet; a second, the Mecorations: a third, to do the cooking; the next to make the pastry, who all wanted to ask the bride for her custom. “Meanwhile the bridegroom was run- ning all over town to engage humorists to entertain the wedding guests. “The homes of both bride and groom were beautifully decorated during the period between the betrothal and the wedding ceremonies, and nearly every day a dinner was given in honor of the couple by relatives or friends. Among, the flowers, palms and wreaths two seats were placed underneath a large | crown of flowers, trimmed with colored ribbons and gold and silver braid.
