NE of the most striking de~ velopments in connection with the approaching Re- publican National Convention lic# in the fact that because ali the large downtown hotels are booked to capacity for that event, many well-known Chicago women are listing their houses and apart- ments for rent during comvention week. The lowest rental seems to be the offer made by Mra. W. A. Vincent of No, 316 Astor Street. ‘The agent says it is $800; Mrs. Vincent says $500. Mrs. Vincent will rent the apartment for $150 a month during the summer and for $800 or $500 for five days } during the convention, ‘Tho highest rental seems to be that of Mrs. R. Hall McCormick of Rush and Erie Streets, who asks $3,000 for five days, or the weak. ARMY OFFICER ARRESTED. ‘Former Paymaster Brought Here to Face Larceny Charge. Edward P. Lynch, thirty-two, former- ty a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army, ‘was brought back from St. Louis, Mo, yesterday by Detective Clarence Daly for trial on a charge of grand larceny, According to the indictment against Lynch, which was found on Dec. 23 last, he disappeared from the Hotel Astor, where he was stationed as Assistant Paymaster in the Army prior to thay date, with $1,022 which had been take from time to time from the desk of th Paymaster.
