Two silk robberies aggregating $66,000 were made known to-day—not by the police, of course, but by the vietiens. Between last Saturday night and Monday morning burglars got into the establishments of the Howard Silk Mills and the Pilgrim Silk Mills, both at ‘No. 409 Fourth Avenue, The door was protected by an electric alarm system, but they cut a hole in the floor in front of the door and another in the floor behind it, thus making entrance underneath. The loot was worth about $30,000. ‘Tuesday night burglars got into the loft of Jacob David on the seventh floor of No. 12 West 21st Street, breaking through a sheet-iron door, and got $25,000 worth of artificial silk. Thomas Walsh, John McQuade and Charles Cole of Truck Company No. 2 accom- plished the rescue. Martin Is the son of Assistant Fire Chief Joseph Mar- tin. who arrived while the rescue was in progress.
