It is the largest, richest State, nearest, most vulner- able and desirable as a prize for an invading enemy. Yet half the force of the State has been fighting with hands bound! The men and women who ask you to vote for Woman Suffrage are not suggesting it as a pretty compliment to womanhood, They ask it as a vital, sound, tremendous step in putting every ounce of ower that can be marshalled behind our country in its time of need, What Asquith Said Did Asquith, long Prime Minister of England, of giving women the vote as:a reward for war service when he said: “The war could not have been carried on without the women”? Do France and Italy and Russia and other Allied countries now at war consider Woman Suffrage ee reward—or as vital in the scheme of enlisting ir full strength to win this war? In our own Military Census did we include women as a reward or because we knew that only with their help could we expect to win? Yet, there are people who are hesitating—and the war goes on! What Do They Fear? That women in wartime are not as faithful to their country’s honor? That women in wartime are less efficient than in times of peace! Then think of President Wilson’s words last week: “This is the time to vote for Woman Suffrage!’’ He knew the need of woman’s “power to organize for doing things,” her “spirit and capacity and vision.” That was his message to New York. And think of this: What use will votes be here to any one, if we are beaten in this war? Your country needs not half but all her power! Without the vote, the women of New York cannot ee their whole great fund of strength. Re- ease the added power that has been held in check! To win the war, vote “‘ Yes’’ next Tuesday!
