As it was, the prisoner is {n the care of two physicians because of shot and bullet wounds. Late searchers procured Flemington Jail. On the way to Flemington the Sher- iff and his prisoner speeded through Milford, Springtown and Little York. ‘Word had passed ahead that the mur- derer of the Queen family was com- ing and farmers gathered along the roadside and fired guns and revolvers. Shortly before midnight the party reached the Flemington jail and the prisoner had hardly been locked up| before a mob gathered in front of the structure and demanded that'the pris- oner be disposed of immediately. ‘The prisoner, who is thought to be Pazon Maywoon, employed as farmhand by the Queen family, wes wounded in a dozen different places. The word spread about the countryside and in a short time almost 200 men and women, armed ‘with every conceivable sort of weapon, surrounded the woods and began beating through. After darkness the lanterns and torches and continued the man hunt. Finally three of the trackers saw @ man swimming across a stream and opened fire upon him, The man had an axe tied across his back, and when he reached the bank of the stream he attempted to attack his pursuers. A mob quickly gathered, ropes were brought forth and only the timely arrival of Sheriff Sharp saved the man from instant death.
