T HE leg-swinging mat exercise given with this lesson is a valuable hip and thigh reducer. It is much easier than the standing leg- swinging one, shown with other lessons, and can be practised by @ll without strain. Take your position flat on the floor, on your back, hands folded behind the neck, legs outstretched full length and together. Swing the right leg eharply over the left one, allowing the heel of the right foot to lightly touch the floor as far to the left side of the left foot as you can possibly reach. Do this three times with the right leg and then extend the legs again and rest | ll muscles several seconds. Proceed by swinging the left leg over the | right one three times. Hold the leg tensed and the knee rigid as you wing each leg over the other one and keep the toe pointed downward. The| tensed muscles greatly add to each exercise and those taken in a halt- hearted or disinterested manner are never as effective. When the muscles | are tensed and then relaxed during the short periods of rest between the | exercises, the blood circulation to them is/greatly stimulated and all parts) of the body are greatly benefited.
