Inspired with an idea for a musical play of this sort, Mr. Scarborough went to the Texas border a few weeks ago, and, in El Paso, met Alberto M. Alvarado of Mexico City, by appointment. Senor Alvarado is Mexico's best known composer of popular music. As a result of their conference Mr. Scarborough and Benor Alvarado are at the Scar- borough home on Staten Island writ- ing and composing the opera. Al- ready the Mexican has compored twenty of the numbers, and Mr. Scar- borough has the book and lyrics al- most ready. An interpreter is with them.
