Spearman gives to E) ning World readers a story of markable interest. He has written such successes as “Whispert “Nan of Music Mountali “Held for Orders,” “Nerve of Foley, “Doctor Bryson,” &c. | The story of “The Girl and the Game" deals with the operation of a great railroad, It reveals the “in- side story” of Wall Street's financial It tells of the love of a girl who is thrown from wealth to poverty in her fight with a band of conspirators, whose desire is to con- trol the raiload of which her father is President. Her struggie to regain the power which sho has lost forms the theme of a story that is full of thrills. In bringing to life the fiction figures of Frank H. In “The Girl and the Game” she portrays many daring feats. The motion picture version of “The Girl and the Game" bas been procuced under the supervision of Samuel #, 8. Hutchinson, producer, and John Freuler. J. P. McGowan has directed the scenes. Mr. McGowan's accurate knowledge of all phases of railroad. ing, from the mechanics of the foun- dries and the switching yards to the duties of its officials, makes bim the greatest producer of railroad pictures in the field to-day. He és acoused of having used the ten certificates « margin securities in carrying an count in the gname of Frank A,| ston with Ehtich & Co. of No. 76 Exchange Place. The certificates of stock were forged, it is alleged, in 1911, by Fred A. West and Charles H. Goodwin, latter now a clerk in a Long Island bank, who fs under indictment for forgery. The former has been a fugitive from justice since Lowden | wan arrested. ‘Tho certificates were ted without question by ich mpany at par value for security when Lowden opened the Westen ac- count. Their usefulness did not cease there, however, for William J. Ehrich, the head of Bhrich and Company, under cross examination by Abraham Levy, counsel for Lowden, admitted that the forged stock certificates had been used as security for loans to his firm from twelve or fifteen trust com- pantes and banks during the eighteen months the Weston account was in existence. He could not remember how much money had been borrowed loaned 80 per cent. of the market value, and at this time the Laclede Gas Company stock was quoted at par, so the forged certificates were accepted as worth $100,000, Howard H. Buck, also a member of the firm and a friend of Lowden, testified he never saw Weston, and expressed the belief that no such Person existed. eee cont WITH THREE CHILDREN, ADOPTS THREE MORE Dr. Lowell Again Increases His Family After Taking In Two Waifs as Playmates for Son.
