In conjunction with the news article was printed what purported to be a picture of David Lamar. This plo- ture was not a picture of Lamar, but was in fact a picture of Samuel Feld- man, a lawyer well known in the courts of this city, who has no con- nection with Lamar. The mistake was due to the fact that in the art de- partment record room of The World, where several thousand photographs are on file, alphabetically indexed, the picture of Lawyer Feldman filed away in the Lamar fo! the name of Lamar came up in the news the mistake in the record room was repeated in the columns of the newspaper. He had been released from Sing Sing prison only a tew weeks ago. Lang was arrested by the police of this city in January, 1907, and oon- victed of a series of burglaries in and around Englewood, N. J. In bie operations there he used a bicycle. On this conviction he served five years in the prison at Trenton. In 1912 a number of burglaries at New Rochelle led to Lang’s arrest. He was tried and convicted in West- chester County and sentenced to three years and eix months in Sing Bing Prison. The policeman was on his horse in ‘Woodhaven Avenue not far from the Brockman home and greenhouse when he heard the crash of giass. He rode toward the Brockman property aad beard a second crash.. Then he dis- mounted and woke Brockman and bis son, Henry jr., who lighted a lantern and went with Denphauser to the areenhouse, They found two panes of glass in the sloping roof of the greenhouse had been broken. Inside the hot- house, in the light of the lantern, Dannhauser caught sight ef a man trying to hide under a bench on which flower pots were piled.
