CARMAN REPEATS = -+-—- —- — “Case Is a Frame-Up,” She Tells The Evening World; “These Private Detective Agencies Wovld Do Anything to Secure a Conviction.” }\ONLY FEAR, SHE SAYS, IS OF PERJURED TESTIMONY ‘Sorry She Did Not Slap An Ac- cusing Detective In the Face As She Did a Nurse. Mrs. Florence Carman talked with an Evening World reporter to» day tt the parlor of her home at Freeport, a few feet from the spot where Mrs. Louise Bailey was shot down eighteen days ago. Except when the tragedy was mentioned in a definite way, Mrs. Carman was quite cool and collected. Once during the interview, when the actual shooting was called to mind, she became nervous and the conversation was switched \by Dr. Carman. Mrs. Carman wore a blue morning wrapper and a white morning cap trimmed with lace under which could be seen the impressions of |curl papers. Her stockings were of lace net and she wore black slippers. She is a very tall woman—almost six feet+—slender and perfectly formed. | She has wonderfully clear and cold grayish blue eyes and has a way of looking directly at the person with whom she is talking. Her gaze ts steady and unwinking and she does not deny that she has cultivated it. “I can stare anybody out of countenance,” she remarked at one stage of the interview. 1 1200000%i1— 5) BATTING ORDER.
