Harry Goldberg, of No. 43 Fourth @venue, Brooklyn, who atempted sut- cide last night by swallowing poison tn front of No, 14 Wall street, was, early this morning, charged with the Murder of Max Flaum, formerly a bookseller at No. & Leonard street, Willlamsburg. The Brooklyn police had been tooking for Gokiberg since last Monday, when Flaum was shot to death tn his store ‘by @ young man answering Goldberg's description. ‘The murdered man was a business ri- val of Walter Goldberg, Harry's father. For years Goldberg sr. had a stationery wtore on Boerum street, Brooklyn, and had enjoyed a monopoly of the trade fn the immediate vicinity unt Flaum eet up in opposition to him. Business @rew worse with Goldberg. Harry had ‘been employed in the store, but finally uriness became so bad there was nothing for him to do and he was Oliged to seek other employment. He brooded over the changes which had come and developed a hatred of Flaum. Last Monday afternoon a young man went into Flaum's store. The men had some worls and the youth shot Flaum in the jaw and then in the breast.
