Client Wanted to Plead Guilty to Having Revolver, but Attorney Wouldn't Let Him. Otto A. Samuels, a lawyer of No. 99 Nassau street, after a serious talk with Judge Swann, in Part I, General Sessions, this morning wrote out a check for $100 in favor of John Romanyzk, charged with a violation of the Sullivan law, whom Samuels had been defending. Romanysk, in pleading guilty, that he had been examining his volver on the roof of the building in 1d which he lives, at No. 237 Bast Twelfth street, when a policeman ar- rested him. That was on Sept. 8, and since then he has been in the Tombs. He told the Judge that he had wanted to plead guilty and explain the cir- cumstances, but had been deterred by Samuels, to whom he had paid $100 to defend him. The prisoner said he had never car- rted the revolver out of his home. Judge Swann talked the case over with the lawyer, supervised the pay- ment of the $100 to Romanyzk and then suspended sentence on the prisoner. ccna! TAFT AN ANTIQUARIAN.
