‘NEW SHIRTWAIST STRIKE THREATENS: GOMPERS 10 AlD Meeting Being Held To-Day to | Formulate Plans for Walk-Out. OFFER NEW AGREEMENT Only Six of Employing Firms Sign It and Rest Are Obdurate. Another general strike of the shirt- waist makers will, in all probability, be cailed within the next two or three days. A conference of delegates from all the shops in this city {# being held at Clinton Hall to-day to decide upon the question. Samuel Gompers, President of the American Federation of Labor, is ready to come to New York and direct the Strike if it should be called President Baroft of the Makers’ Union has been in telegraphic communication with Mr. Gompers over the situation which has arisen since the expiration—Dec. 15—of the agreement entered into between the union and the employers. Preliminary Conference. At a preliminary conference held last night Miss Mary E. Drier and Mise Leonora O#Reilly of the Women's Trades Union League; Bernard Wein-/ stein, General Organ of the United Hebrew Trades; Abraiiam Rosenbera, President of the International Union of Ladies Garment Workers of Amer- fea; Hugh Fraynem, New York State Organizer of the American Federation of Labor, and two lawyers, Meyer London and Jacob Panken, were a) pointed a committee to take charge of the strike, and this committee has a pointed Samuel Shindler leader, with full control.
