I rere peer Ra acer a ea as 6 —_. ANOTHER ORDER FOLLOWS LEAD | OF ARCANUM Knights of Honor Increases Its Life Insurance Rates to Old Members. ARCANUM KICKERS BUSY. Will Force the Supreme Council , _ to Reconvene and Amend New Rates. The Royal Arcanum fs not alone tn {ts dimoulty with members because of the Increase in its life insurance mtes. It {s announced, officially, that the Knights of Honor, the second in the line of fraternal insurance orders, has raised | its rates something on the style of the 1 Arcanum, the old members of the organization being forced to assume the burden. The new rates were adopted by the Bupreme Lodge of the Knights of Honor at its annual convention in Atlanta, Ga,, held from June 18 to June 22. Although Adopted nearly two weeks ago, the members of the order were not informed Of the fact until yesterday, when che oMclal orwan of the order published the hew rates. which co into effect Sept. 1. The action of the Supreme Lodge of the Knights of Honor was similar to that taken by the Supreme Council of te Royal Arcanum, except that the chief Inwmakers of the Knights of Honor have not disturbed the rates for Members up to sixty-one years, but have provided a discriminaung stev rate, which gradually increases the old ™mn's aagessment from $8 a month for $2,000 until {t reaches $15 a month at seventy years. Women Eligible. Xt was announced, also, that begin- ning Sept. 1, women will be eligible to membership in the Knights of Honor. ‘The order is very strong in the west. There are forty-seven lodges in Man- hettan and the Bronx and twenty-four in Brooklyn. There is an order known as the Knights and Ladies of Honor, with headquarters in Indianapolis, but it has no relation to the Knights of Honor, the headquarters of which is in Bt. Lout Several local lodges met last night, and members who had coples of the ofti- cial paper scanned the resolutions and the assessment tables. None of the members had sufficient knowiedge to move for any action and the meetings Were adjourned until next week.
