FIVE BIG MEN IN THE POLICY GAME INDICTED Magistrate Higginbotham’s Evidence Results in Action by Grand Jury. BENCH WARRANTS OUT. 44 Blanket Charge Against Three Men, Whose Names Are Kept Seoret. Bive indictments against the silered @wnere of the numerous policy shops in fhe Bamtern Disirict of Brooklyn were Feturmed to Judge Aspinall in the Coun- ty Court by the Kings County Grand Jury this morning. One of the indict- ments was a blanket charge against three men. The names of the defend ants were not made public by the Court, Bench warrants at onoe issued @nd detectives wore sent out to arrest the men. The charges in each of the indint- ments are paid to be similar to those on which Bteve O'Brien, Brooklyn's Polfoy king, was arrested last week, O'Brien was charged with being @ common gambler and with maintaining Polley shops. Bvidence furnished chtefly by Magis- trate Higginbotham and Detective Cohen, of Inspector Wiegand's staft, Was responsible for the indictments which were found to-day, ‘The Magla- trate gave the Grand Jury the namos of several men who, he sald, were the ringleaders of the policy shops in the Fastern Distetct, Detective Cohen's evidence consisted of a description of ® polloy raid nade by him last week, He showed the jurors a lot of polley Peraphernalia which he had seized, MAYOR WILL QUICKLY SIGN ANY CHEAP GAS BILL: Tf the Legisinture, acting on the re- port of the Gas Investigating Commia- Sion, adopts a reduced rate gas bill, the Mayor was informed to-day, that ho will have fifteen days in which either to approve or disapprove of the meas- ure.
