) A Down-to-Date View 4 of Easter’ Fashions. EE —— \By Julia Cowan. x (Writtin Exclusively for The Evening World.) WY LADY has hind several weeks of unusually beautiful spring weather in which to. inspect, criticise and adapt the unusually beautiful spring gowns, wraps and other dainties prepared for the feminine world. At one of the openings of models the handsome redingote in tuffeta, Pongee and peau de sole was shown, while the jaunty bolero and natty Bton are in the race fram start to finish. These delightful little wraps can e merely the trim jackets to a plain suit, or by different development and finish can be the piece de resistance of an elaborate costume. They aro in in lavish profusion with costumes of all weaves of cloth, silk and the heavier wash fabrics. The plain Bton may have a vest with silk facings and fancy braids, 1) sleeves, and, of sourse, is worn with a fancy blouse whose dainty sleeves and neck finish give the proper complement. If the sun shines with a generous spring warmth we may see few wraps, and ins.ead our vision will be charmed with the handsome costumes ) im which the skint and bodice are alike. These are naturally more dre: © and with the changed contour of the slender waist and high bust, over which the drapery is arranged in graceful folds, my lady is, indeed, a Queenly figure. With such a bodice there should be the full puff sleeve Mike the one illustrated on this page. but Dame Fashion allows abundant Mberty of taste in the use uf all-over lace, embroidery or frills for the lower part Besides the draped blouse the graceful surplice is another becoming Style that admits of widely diverse elaboration, and its friends are legion. The skirts of these full costumes are often the nine and eleven gored Morlels, fitting easily over the hips and falling in graceful, abundant folds ebout the feet. ‘These suggestions are the ones that are proving most populur by their | adoption, but individuality of taste and appropriation pl most im- portant part; and the wealth of laces, embroidery, fancy braids and ap- Pique motifs so generously supplied by the shops absolutely prevent that ‘run-in-the-ground"” manner, since women give more study to individ- ‘ual style. As will be here seen, the designs for misses and girls follow closely the Hines adopted by their elders, differing principally in their development Let simplicity and good taste characterize their gowns rather than elaboration. . The most beautiful girlish models are shown in shirt waist suits, )) wallors and surplice effect in taffeta, natural pongee, foulard, linen and pique, all of which can be reproduced in much less expensive yet good _ Material. For the smaller girls the sailor suits blouse more, and the skirts are \ either kilteqd or gathered, Plaids, checks and flowered designs are all Droper for them, Lady's Toilet.
