He went into the house. to learn the bust- ness and when ho left he carried away a general knowledge of the myle of goods handled hy the firm and of the people with yrhom the firm dealt. These people began to get telephone orders immediately after Shafer left Steinhal & Bro., calling for quantities of ailks valued at from $100 to $200, The Person telephoning would order that the allks be delivered to a messenger from Steinhal & Bro, and that the bill be sent to the firm. Detectives found that the telephone messages were sent by young Shafer and that Smolensk! and Cohn were the messengers who called for the goods.
