SENT THERE BY HIS PRETTY YOUNG WIFE.| Composer Had an &mbition to Become Famous, and Would Not Heed the Advice of Physi- cian, Who Counselled Rest. Frederick Houllhan, a young componer and song writer, is in Bellevue Hospital, & victim of his own ambition. He was nent there at the instance of his pretty wife, who believes that the hard work she has been doing has temporarily de- ranged his mind, , Houlihan is only twenty-three years of age and has been in New York less than two years. He came from Roches- ter, where his parents now live and where he married a Rochester girl after ® romantic courtshin, It is sald that his music fascinated the young woman, and though there was family oppos!- tion because of the youth of the couple they took matters into their own hands, were married and came to New York to live, Houlihan is a planist of marked abtl- ity. He had little diMculty in securing work on his arrival here and he took his bride to live at No. 833 Hast ‘Thirty- ninth street. He then began working for a music publishing house and he worked every hour of every day and often long into the night. He was hitious to becume a great composer, his young wife, spurred him on, ing that it was within his reach come famous, Some of His Rent Songs. Some of Houlihan's recent componl- tions which have attained popularity were “Yazoo,” “Rosaline,” of Flowers” and “What th Bay.” He was also working songs and he was behind in fh in spite of the long hours he + fitting words to music and composing verses. Houlihan's ambition began to tell on hig health several weeks ago. Instead of the muscular young fellow he hud} been he became stooped and pale. His! physician told him that he must cease his long hours of work and take exer- cise. He did not obey the instructions, Houlthan appearca to be in his usual | tate of mind when he and his pretty | wife had luncheon yesterday. She asked | him then to take a vacation | “You need it,’ she told lim. “You will leave me a widow if you don’t take the advice of your doctor. You are simply killing yourself, i Houlihan laughed at the wife's fears for him. “1 am all right,” he said. “I'l have time to reat when I have made more of a name than (| have now.” Symptoms of Insanity.
