Sykes was one Of the most popular actors in the pro- fession, and his sudden death, following an illness of but a few days, was a dis- tinet shock to those to whom his genial Personality had endeared him. ‘The comedian contracted pneumonia at @ Christmas party on the stage of the ilinois Theatre, Chicago, after the per- formance Christmas eve. He died at the Hotel Stratford after an illness of only three days.
