When they reached a secluded spot in the old burying ground he attacked her, Her screams frightened him off ant brought a number of men hurrying to the spot, After hearing Miss Wallace's story the men organized an armed posse and started in pursuit of Adkins, He was found hiding in the woods near Brinck- erhoff, nearly ten miles from the scene of his attack on Miss Wallace, He was taken back to Fishkill and arraignea before Justice Norris. Notorious “Monk” Eastman and seven other men, whose pictures, the police say, ornament the Rogues’ Gallery, were arrested to-day at the bicycle races at Madison Square Garden by order of In- spector McClusky. ‘The police have been in receipt of re- ports of pickpockets’ work at the Gar- den for several days. Not far away they came upon Joo Brown, Eastman’s particular friend ‘and companion, of the pair of whom it is said that where you meet one you will always meet the other. Brown fol- lowed Eastman to the street, and the plain-clothes men waded into the crowd. When they got through they had six more prisoners, all taken into custody on general principles. ‘The lot filled a patrol wagon and was carried off to Police Headquarters, ponte ee ia es ieee When you contemplate having Artistic Photographs taken, try to remember our three up-to-date studios.
