\ | i De + Dox! TREASURER NOT =" YET HEARD FROM “Office Boy’s” Cash Which Dis appeared with E. Burke Scott) Would Be Gratefully Accepted by Manager C. B. Dillingham. ATE CONDON ALSO SAYS, “PLEASE WRITE.” There Is a Theory that the Missing Treasurer May Be Suffering from an Organic Ailment and that He Is Unable to Notify Employer. Experts are at work on the books of B. Burke Scott, the treasurer of “The ‘Office Boy," Frank Danicls's latest, now deing played at tho Victoria Theatre. Goott disappeared on Saturday, tt 1s al- leged, with $4,600 of C. B, Dillingham's money. Mr. Dillingham {s the manager of Mr, Daniels. He is the chief sufferer. Until a report 1s made on the books, Mr, Dillingham will pe unable to ay just how ne fares. Scott has been a trusted employee, and on many- occa- sions had in his possession more than the sum which is missing with him. His disappearance is, therefore, unaccount- able. ~On Saturday night Scott paid the chorus and gave Frank Daniels a check for $1,000, his share of the earnings. On Monday Dantels went to the New Amsterdam Bank to cash his check, and found that there was not money enough to honor jt. About the same time the manager heard of ‘the check letters came from Kate Condon, Scott's wite, who was playing with ‘The Bostonians’ in Bpringfleld. His letters to her had sud- denly stopped and her anxiety became apparent by the number of telegrams ahe sent “The Office Boy" managerial force. Then Dillingham reported the matter to Inspector McClusky and now Scott is belng sought for far and near. If Scott 1s not heard from to-day more drastic measures may be taken by Mr. Dillingham. Bruce Edwards, the personal repre- sentative of Mr. Dillingham, believes that Scott may be sick somewhere or may be ‘the victim of some circum- stance that for the moment prevents him from communicating with his em- ployer. He said it sometimes happens that a manager gives @ check on Satur- day night and does not deposit money with the bank to meet it until Monday morning. “L know that Scott had as much as 1,197 with him Saturday aight,” Mr. Aawards said.
