Prisoner Does Not Know an Officer Is Waiting to Arrest Him When He Is Released—Crime Committed in 1895. LONDON, Dec. 1.—Charles Allen, the famous American criminal, terminates several years’ imprisonment at Dart- mouth on Dec. 5. As he walks out of prison he will be re-arrested on an ex tradition warrant, charging him with a daring nost-office robbery at Springfeld Tii., in 1895. Late in that year Allen and Killoran broke out of Ludlow Street Jail, New York, and escaped to England. It was only after Allen had been convicted here of robbing the Birkbeck Bank that his {dentity was discovered. Allen is quite ignorant of the reception which awaits him the moment he re- gains his freedom, The robberies committed by Allen did not bring him the fame which later at- tached to his name after his sensational escape from Ludlow Street Jail, He and Joo Killoran were arrested in ‘this city in the latter part of 189% and were sent {0 the Ludiow Street Jail as Federal prisone there to watt for trial on charges of robbing post-offices.
