C., Nov. 19.—The hearing of the charges preferred by Senator Hanna and Senator ‘Teller against Brig-Gen, Leonard Wood, to pre- vent his confirmation as Major-General, to which he was ppointed by the Presi- dent during the recess of the Senate, will be a star chamber proceeding, President Roosevelt {s credited with having intervened to prevent full pub- lielty in the matter and the Senate Committe on Military Affairs, which has the matter in charge, decided to-day after a, hot discussion to hold executive sessions temporarily Fight for Publicity. ¥ called at 10.90 A, Mf, of the Chairman of the Committee, Senator Hawley, of Con- necticut, Senator Proctor, ex-Secretary of War, presided.
