TIE-UP MAY LAST ALL THE WINTER Whether It Shall Be Peace or Further War in Building Trades Depends on Result of Meeting To-Day. CONTINUANCE OF STRIKE AS LIKELY AS SETTLEMENT Representatives of the Employ- ers and the Union Men in Ses- sion at Different Places to Discuss the Outlook. _', On the outcome of two meetings held ‘this afternoon depends the position of the employers and the bullding laborers during the winter. A complete tie-up of most of the bullding operations Is as Ukely as a harmonious understanding between the employers and employees. The Board of Governors of the Em- ployers' Association met at No. 11:5 Broadway to take definite action con- cerning the Stonecutters, who have re- fused to sign the arbitration agree- ment. President Eidiitz, while he would not commit himself, permitted the !mpres- sion to get abroard that the stonecut- ters would probably be locked out as boing constituents of Sam Parks and. the walking delegate plan. L. K. Prince, of the Press Committee of the Employers ‘Association, said: “Ot course, we can not erect bulldings * without the stonecutters. If they are | Rector streets. { { | | ! A pathisers, gathered near locked out all buflding operations must stop, as their labor 1s vital to any structure. Perhaps the Board of Gov- ernors can get around the matter in some other way. It 1s an important meeting, and all will depend on its ac- tion.”” ‘The United Board of Building Trades met in Brevoort Hall to take action on Parks's plan to bring the seventeen unions which signed the arbitration plan back Jato the Board. Parks's Heu- tenants say assurances have been re- celved from several of these untons that they will go back into the United Board #f Parks will guarantee that all the ‘ther unions shall do Ukewise. What the individual unions fear is acting alone.and thus being stut out of work. ‘Dhe Parks workers say that the meet- ing to-day will 1ssue an ultimatum to these unions that unless they re-enter the United Board within e certain time the material shops will be closed against them. Only interior workers reported for work to-day on the buildings con- struction, the rain keeping the others This fact promoted the large away. he reveont attendance at the meeting in Hall.
