Kraft, both of whom were made co-respondenta by Dr. Pemberton in his suit for di- vorce, were encouraged by her father ‘to call at his house, and that he shared the intimacy with them. She had never seen anything improper in the relations between her mother and Anderson and Kraft, She sald that Kraft usually ealied with his mother and sister, and that he made uo special effort to call when her father was away from home. PARIS, Sept. 10—A fatal automobile aceldent occurred yesterday evening at Barbe, near Bordeaux. A car conducted by an American, whose name was given as Martin, and who was sald to be a hotel man of New York City, and who was accompanied by @ party of guests from the Chateau de Pessac, owned by M. Eschenaur, of Bordeaux, started on a trip to Biarritz. While going at a high speed the ma- ohinery of the car became deranged and the vehicle dashed into a ditch. One of the occupants of the rear seat, ‘M. Culvililer, had bis back broken and was killed outright. Martin had a shoul- der Injured; but the two other occu- pants of the car escaped uninjured. M. Cuivillier's body was taken back to the Chateau de Pessac. The Mr. Martin referred to 1s prob- ably J. D, Martin, one of the proprie- tors of the Hotel Martin, at Twenty- sixth street and Fifth avenue, who is in Europe on his vacation. DISGUISED POLICE SPECTOR'S. AI Wiegand, of Brooklyn, Surprises Capt. Summers, of Hamilton Avenue Station, by Bringing in Seventeen Prisoners. Capt. Summers, of the Hamilton ave- nue police station, Brooxlyn, was given a rare treat to-day, While taking lite easy in his well-ordered stationsouse during the small hours of the mérning he was surprised by a sudden turmoil at the outer door. The cause of the dis- turbance was Inspector Wiegand with soventeen men and women, the result of a raid at the resort, Nos 112-116 Hamilton avenue. Inspector Wiegand was not in blue and gold dress. Instead of the clothes of his lofty police office he was clad in a fashion that knows no categorical name. He had meafit his disguise to delude people into the belief that he was a farmer. Those who were fooled took him for a saflor. For some time complaints have been coming In to the Central Office about a certain nolsy resort on Hamilton ave- ‘ue.
