‘ fartha Brady, M. Roosevelt Schuyler, RAEI TEO YI MAS. CARTER: NEW TRIUMPH Actress Is Honored Socially on Stage That Has Seen Her Ac- olaimed for Notable Dramatic Achievements. On the stage where she has achieved @otable dramatic triumphs Mrs. Leslie) Caster was last night the central fig-; ure at the Belasco Theatre in a social ecene as flattering to herself as it @as unique and enjoyable to the hun- Greds of guests who delightedly avatied @hemselves of the privilege of meeting the gifted actress. ‘Phe reception tendered Mrs, Carter in menor of her birthday and in celebration of her return after her first triumphant tour in “Du Barry,” by her preceptor and manager, Mr. David Belasco, was happily in harmony with the original purpose of playwright and star to have the handsome playhouse suggest the e@omfort and hospitality of the home Stage Like Drawing-Room. The stage, transformed by the florist, essumed the aspect of a decorated draw- fng-room. Banked on all sides by flow- ers and palms and festooned above with garlands of laurel interwoven with white and green lights, tt was a handsome aight. In one of the recesses an orches- tra played music from “Du Barry,” “Zaza,” and “The Heart of Maryland,” fm remembrance of Mrs, Carter's @uc- eesses in these plays. The hundreds of guests, embracing Yeading representatives of society, the drama, and the professions, were ush- ered upon the stage over bridgess by members of Mr. Belasco’s business staff, including Charles Emerson Cook, Benja- min F. Roeder, Wilfred Buckland, Percy Jordan, Charles ©. Gilbert, John H. Blackwood, Henry D. Schaad, Wiliam T. Hull, Harry B. Sanford, George B. Dunlevie and Fred A. Du Bois. Mrs. Carter, with her mother on her eft and Mr. Belasco on her right, looked eharming in a gown of lace crepe de ghine with Irish lace and pearls and @ picture hat of black chiffon. She mant- fested the keenest pleasure in the af- fair. Mr. Belasco, whose hand was shaken with an equal degree of cordiallty, shared eongratulations with his brilliant star. When all had been presented refresh- ments were served on the stage and in the orchestra, and quaint Japanese fans were handed the women as souvenirs. Guests Aro Many.
