IN OCEAN RACE, But the Kiawassa, Owned by H. | B. Shaen, Wins on Time Al- lowance in Schooner Race. The Endymion, owned by George Lauder, jr., winner of two of last year's ocean schooner races, finished first in the first of this season's events held by the Atlantic Yacht Ciub, but, Kiawassa won the prize on time allowance. Sho finished the 28-mile race. which was started Monday morning, at 1.36 this morning. at which hour she passed Scotland Lightship. The next schooner, the Fleur de Lys, was over an hour behind the winner, and the others came trailing behind her. The En lymion made the best time over the course, 89 hours, 9 minutes and 15 seconds, but she was beaten 28 minutss, seconds on Kiwasse, the winner o! the race, and by 18 minutes. 25 seconds by the Iroquois, which was the second boat. The Endymion led the others at all points of the course, rounding the Fir Island Lightshtp 11 seconds ahead of the Iroquois, and the Northeast End Light- ship of Cape May 1 minute, 34 seconds ahead of the Fleur de Lys. The race was sailed in moderate breezes shifting from southwest to west northwest The Estelle, owned by L. J. Callanan, had some trouble with her centreboard, it 1s sald, which may account for the delay in her arrival. The Thistle, Com- modore Tod's scnooner, allowed the othors time.
