Friends have urged him to leave town until the mystery 1s cleared, but he refuses to go. Beach is a favorite of William W. Bull, one of the wealthy men of the town. He fell in love with Mr, Bull's grand- daughter, and during the courtship the threatening letters began. In spite of them he married the girl of his ohoice, Miss Jennie Waldron. — It was arranged that the young couple should lve with grandparents.
