Bilpping over to the telephone xe called thp police station and told them of the robbery, and Detectives Brun- Gage and Callen were despatched on the run. Callen tried in vain to get into the apartment whore the burglars were geen. McKay went in through No. 87 and appeared through the scuttle onto the roof with drawn revolver. He was Dut a short, distance from the man with /the bundles that aad been passed to him on a pole. He started noiselessly in purtult, but! the robber was not so quiet. His heavy @hoes rattled on the roof and those quietly aslecp in the rooms below were soon rubbing their eyes and climbing out of bed to learn the cause of the eommotion. While the men were go- ing up through the scuttle the bur- lars vanished. Where they went could only be guessed. The occupants of the robbed house were away and the detectives went away, deciding that they would call around this morning, see if anything had been taken and then “investigate. tt CHASED BY MOB FROM BROADWAY Big Crowd Threatens Four Men, One of Whom Is Said to Have Kicked a Boy Without Provo- Cation.
